Junior Mandarin Classes

These courses are suitable for children aged 5 and above. We use Chinese Made Easy for Kids book series as a framework for class and homework. These classes are held 50% in English and 50% in Mandarin.

Students will build a solid foundation of Chinese and cultivate interest in learning Chinese. After completing this series, children will be able to recognize over 500 Chinese characters, and develop communication skills in Chinese from an early age.

This course is designed for beginners who are studying Chinese for the first time. Students will start from scratch and gradually develop their skills in listening, reading, speaking, and writing simple pinyin and characters, as well as mastering the most basic everyday Chinese conversations.

In class, teachers will use a variety of methods, such as introducing Chinese folk customs and traditions, playing games, singing children's songs, telling stories, and exploring topics related to simple science experiments and the natural world . Our goal is to engage every student in classroom activities, helping them develop a genuine interest and enthusiasm for learning Chinese。

This course aims to help students master 300 commonly used Chinese characters and improve their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, with a particular focus on character writing and recognition. The course content includes:

1. Character Learning: Students will learn 20-30 commonly used characters each week, mastering their writing, pronunciation, and basic usage;

2. Listening Practice: Through daily conversations and short listening materials, students will enhance their listening comprehension;

3. Speaking Practice: Dialogue exercises centred around everyday scenarios will strengthen oral expression;

4. Reading and Writing: Simple text reading and basic writing exercises will reinforce character recognition and writing skills. By the end of the course, students should be able to recognize and write 300 Chinese characters, understand daily conversations, and engage in simple oral and written communication.

This course aims to help students master 500 commonly used Chinese characters, further improving their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, with a strong emphasis on character writing and recognition. The course content includes:

1. Character Learning: Students will learn 25-35 commonly used characters each week, mastering their writing, pronunciation, meaning, and usage;

2. Listening Practice: Through daily conversations, news clips, and other listening materials, students will enhance their comprehension of Chinese;

3. Speaking Practice: Dialogues and discussions centred around daily life and social scenarios will improve oral fluency;

4. Reading and Writing: Short text reading and writing exercises will reinforce character recognition and writing skills, while introducing simple sentence structures. By the end of the course, students should be able to recognize and write 500 Chinese characters, understand daily conversations, and engage in relatively fluent oral communication and basic writing.

This course builds upon students’ existing foundation in Pinyin to further enhance their character recognition skills, gradually enabling them to read texts independently. The course aims to develop students’ ability to engage in daily conversations in Chinese, describe real-life situations, and write short compositions.

In addition to language learning, the curriculum includes a rich exploration of Chinese culture. Students will learn about traditional Chinese festivals such as the Spring Festival, Qingming Festival, and Mid-Autumn Festival, exploring their origins, customs, and cultural significance. Through video explanations and bilingual learning (Chinese and English), overseas students gain deeper insights into Chinese cultural traditions and develop a stronger connection to their Chinese heritage.

The course also incorporates content from overseas Chinese language exams as supplementary resources, helping students build a solid foundation and prepare for future exams. Lessons are designed to be interactive, integrating games, storytelling, and various engaging activities to spark students’ interest and boost their confidence in learning Chinese in a fun and enjoyable environment.
